South of June Workshop

Retreat-style workshop for photographers to foster learning, growth and community.

January 8 - January 12

La Jolla, California

A California oasis, La Jolla is a dreamy little coastal pocket of San Diego. If you’ve been, you know it speaks for itself. If you haven’t been, you’re truly in for a TREAT. Our Airbnb is nestled in the heart of La Jolla coffee shops, boutiques and above all else, is walking distance from the beach… you can thank me later.

Throughout the week we’ll be shooting at iconic locations as well as less-known spots. Our 3 elopement shoot will be styled by my talented friend Lydiah of Love Made Weddings. We’ll also be shooting 4-5 couple sessions and 3 different brands (swim, clothing, and a surprise).

All meals are provided at the airbnb and included in your investment here, however you are welcome and encouraged to explore, dine and experience everything La Jolla has to offer as well. Everything is optional and I am so excited to host you guys for an amazing week in a place so close to my heart. Having grown up here is something I don’t take for granted.

The Mission

SOUTH OF JUNE WORKSHOP was dreamt up with a mission to bring photographers together and foster friendship, connections, and accountability in the creative community. Meet your host

FOUNDER / HOST / TEACHER #1

I'm Aysia - A full-time photographer for weddings, couples, and brands and educator in the photography space. I started down this path about 7 years ago during college with barely any idea what I was doing and some scrounged-together cash that I used to get myself a subpar camera.

I've led multiple workshops in locations like Central Coast CA, Hawaii, and Laguna Beach –– and loved every second of them.

Tickets will be available until 16 spots have been filled. When that happens, this page will be deactivated and only the attendees will have access to the facebook group, workshop itinerary, locations, education, and other resources included in this retreat-style workshop.

Are you in?

THE ITINERARY (so far)

MONDAY - CHECK IN / January 8th you can check in any time after 5pm. We’ll gather together for an evening of mingling that will fade into a yummy al fresco dinner and cocktails + chill time before the workshop officially kicks off the next day.

TUESDAY / We kick off the day with a sunrise shoot (2 or 3 couples) and then break for brunch back at the airbnb or out on the town. After some hang time, we’ll head back out to shoot 2 elopements. All evenings will consist of dinner, movies, editing parties, games, and connection.

WEDNESDAY / Brekky at our airbnb (optional to go out for coffee/breakfast). At around 10:30am we’ll head out to shoot a few brands! We’ll head back to the airbnb for lunch + a group lesson (either from myself or our guest speaker). In the early evening, we’ll head out for some optional headshots!

THURSDAY / The day begins with a lesson in the morning either from myself of our guest speaker. After breaking for lunch, we’ll shoot an intimate ceremony setup and the details. After that, we’ll head out to shoot 1 elopement and two couple sessions. For dinner you can head back to the airbnb for our provided meal or go explore and find dinner out in La Jolla or wherever).

FRIDAY / Early brekky at the airbnb and check-out by 9am. You can either head home or join the gang for lunch out in La Jolla before we say our goodbyes!

FAQ

Do I need a certain amount of photography experience?

This workshop is for all levels. Whether you're years into your craft or you're just getting started. You don't even need a fancy camera. Come as you are and bring what you have.

Email me if you have more questions about if this is right for you: hello@southofjune.com

where should i fly into and do I need to rent a car?

I suggest flying intoSan Diego International Airport (SAN). I recommend sharing a rental car with 3-5 other attendees. You won't need it much, but to get to and from the shoots + to explore on the free day, you may want a car! Once you have your ticket, in a few weeks I’ll add all attendees to a FB group where you can coordinate carpooling.

I’ll also have a few spots in my car & you’re welcome to jump in anytime, but I recommend you have a reliable source of transportation other than me!

How many people will be attending?

A maximum of 16 attendees. This will allow me and the other teacher to give individual training in a more intimate setting + the house capacity keeps us more limited for this go around.

If I live local, is there a discounted option for day passes / not staying overnight?

Yes but a limited number! Please see above. “Investment” section.

WHAT DOES THE BEDROOM SITUATION LOOK LIKE?

There are multiple rooms and multiple beds within most rooms. Rooms and beds are chosen at the discretion of the attendees on a first come first served basis. This workshop is open to both men and women. Men will room with others who identify as male, and women with others who identify as female. Couples who work as a team and who purchased tickets to the workshop may have their own room and it will be assigned ahead of time.

So, see you soon?
